Dr. Nicholas Beauchesne completed his PhD at the University of Alberta, in the Department of English and Film Studies, in 2020. He obtained his Master of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University in 2012, and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Thompson Rivers University in 2011. Specializing in occult literary networks and modernist print culture, Dr. Beauchesne sought to theorize reading, writing, editing, and even teaching, as a magical practice. His signature course at the University of Alberta, English 103: Case Studies in Research, uses canonical Western literary movements as focal points for discovering the secrets of esoteric literature.
Dr. Beauchesne has worked with research consortiums such as the SpokenWeb project and the Canadian Writing Research Collaboratory, both of which are SSHRC-funded initiatives. He has grasped the enchanted manuscripts, letters, and notes of his favorite writers at the British Library, the Bodleian Library, and the Beinecke Library, among other wonderful troves of magical literature. He has tutored individuals, taught classes, presented at conferences, and published poems, songs, and essays.
If you have a deep question or a research problem, Dr. Beauchesne surely has solutions—or knows of someone who does.
